Do you accept Southern Cross?

GA is usually started through an IV line (a small tube in your arm or hand) or sometimes by breathing in anaesthetic gases through a mask.

Once you are asleep, the anaesthetist maintains the correct level of anaesthetic for the entire procedure.

Throughout, your breathing, heart rate, oxygen levels, and blood pressure are closely monitored.

What is the difference between local and general anaesthetic?

General anesthesia and local anesthesia are both used to numb pain during medical procedures, but they work in different ways and have distinct effects on the body.

General Anesthesia induces a state of unconsciousness and complete loss of sensation throughout the entire body, while Local anesthesia numbs a specific part of the body, usually a small area where the procedure will take place.

Taking pain killers and antibiotics

Following your surgery, we'll provide you with a customised take-home package. This will contain pain relievers, along with a prescription for stronger pain medication if necessary.

Antibiotics may not be needed for everyone post-surgery, but if deemed necessary, we'll prescribe them accordingly.

Taking Regular Medications

Please ensure to maintain your regular medication regime unless otherwise instructed by the practice.

Follow up Appointment

We are delighted to schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure your continued well-being. While minor procedures may not always require a routine follow-up, if you find that your symptoms persist or worsen, including increased pain, swelling, or redness, please contact us immediately.

We will promptly arrange an appointment to address your concerns.
